Whitney Little League

Good afternoon - It is my unfortunate responsibility to report to you we just received word from Little League International (LLI) that we have been directed/recommended to suspend all games, activities and or practices until April 6th due to concerns as it relates to the spread of COVID 19.  I personally apologize for the confusion regarding the initial report of no activities until 4/19, it is 4/6.  Your board has worked tirelessly for this season to be a memorable one so trust me when I say, we didn't want this to happen, it breaks our hearts too. The link to the official press release can be viewed here for further information. We will be collecting candy fundraiser money Saturday, 3/14 from 10am to 12pm at the snack bar. If you have candy $ to drop off, this is the deadline. We will also be re-scheduling picture day as well (TBA). We also have fields to tend to during this time. it would be EXTREMELY helpful if teams can coordinate with Kyle Baker, our groundskeeper, to ensure the fields aren't overburdened with weeds or over growth while not in use. PLEASE consider contacting him at

Lastly regarding games, we cannot make efforts to reschedule all the cancelled games. Period. Prior to this cancellation, each team had no less than twenty one (21) games scheduled for the entire season.  As it stands now with cancelled games and if we resume play the week of 4/6, each team will play no less than fourteen (14) games at minimum. Per Little League mandate, a season is to have no less than twelve (12) games, so we have well met that bench mark.  In addition, the schedule for the fields is literally packed daily with either practice or games, but for Sundays through May.

In regards to player eligibility for all stars and post season play, I am told that LLI will be modifying rules for player eligibility for those divisions who participate in post season play (TOC's & All-Stars) to ensure this decision does not effect that portion of the Little League program. Please consider also the board and or the executive committee will be coming up with some ideas to perhaps extend or ensure additional games can be played, if possible. This may include those dates where the fields maybe idle after 4/6. I want to personally thank you all for your understanding in this matter and patience. If you have any additional questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out.

League President
